Indonesia to reduce taxes on US imports ahead of trade talks
At a conference attended by President Prabowo Subianto, officials revealed plans to lower import duties on US steel, mining products, and health equipment to 0-5% from 5-10%. The government is also exploring potential US component purchases for an oil refinery project and opportunities to replace other Asian countries as an export source.
Indonesia’s trade surplus with the US reached $16.8 billion last year. The government is also exploring a partnership with the US on critical minerals, reflecting broader efforts to strengthen economic ties with Washington.
