According to media reports, Indonesia’s economy grew at the slowest pace in five years in 2014. The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased 5.0% in 2014 following a growth rate of 5.8% in 2013. However, the country’s fourth quarter GDP growth sped up to reach 5.01% compared to a growth rate of 4.92% in the previous quarter.

Subdued export demand and political uncertainty were cited as the main reasons behind the deceleration in the country’s economic growth.

The government is reportedly hoping to achieve 5.7% growth this year.
