According to media reports, Iran aims to increase its petrochemical output to 129 million tons in the period of 2016-2021 as part of the country’s sixth five-year development plan. The country’s petrochemical production is also expected to reach 62 million tons by the end of current Iranian year beginning on March 21. In the March-September period, Iran’s petrochemical production reached 2.48 million tons.

Iran’s petrochemcal output is also expected to be boosted by the start up of phases 15, 16, 17, and 18 of the South Pars gas field.

Meanwhile, once the country’s sixth five-year development plan is terminated in 2021, Iran’s revenue from the petrochemical sector is expected to reach around $40 billion.
