According to the National Statistics Office (ISTAT), Italy’s GDP grew by 0.2% in Q4 of 2016 following a growth of 0.3% in the previous quarter and matched the previous estimates. In the release, the small increase was attributed to the growth in domestic demand, industry and service activity. However, trade flows and contraction in agriculture had a negative impact on the growth rate.

According to the data, the growth in Q4 was 1.1% on a yearly basis, unchanged from Q3 while the overall GDP for 2016 was also up by 1% year-on-year.

The government reportedly expects the growth for 2017 to be at 0.9%, in parallel with that of last year, the reports indicate.
