Italy’s new car sales surge 17.4% in March

According to data released by Italy’s Transport Ministry, new car sales jumped 17.4% on the year to reach 190,381 vehicles in March, rising for a 15th consecutive month. In the first three months of the year, the country’s car sales increased 20.8% to 519,123 vehicles compared with the first quarter of 2015.

According to a statement by Italy’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the company’s new car sales rose 21.6% to reach 56,000 cars in March.

Italy’s carmakers’ association UNRAE previously stated that car sales in Italy are expected to rise 7% in 2016 to around 1.68 million units on the back of stabilizing economic growth in the country.
