Italy’s new car sales surge in August

According to data released by Italy’s Transport Ministry, new car sales jumped 15.8% on the year to reach 83,363 vehicles in August. In the first eight months of the year, the country’s car sales increased 9.1% to 1.37 million vehicles when compared to the same period of last year.

According to a statement by Italy’s Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the company’s new car sales rose 15.6% from a year earlier to reach 24,000 cars in August.

According to Italy’s carmakers’ association UNRAE, the country’s total car sales are expected to record a yearly increase of 9.3% in 2017.
