In Asia, several producers have nominated their January PX contracts with decreases from their previous nominations, according to market sources. ExxonMobil announced their new January PX contract at $880/ton CFR Asia, down $60/ton from their December nomination while Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan nominated its PX contract for January at $870/ton CFR, down $110/ton. South Korea’s S-Oil and Japan’s JX Nippon Oil and Energy also nominated their January PX contracts at $880/ton.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s SK Global Chemical has announced its first Asian PX nomination at $890/ton CFR. Sources stated that no major PX settlements for December have been reached in Asia due to volatile crude oil prices. Only two PX contract settlements were reached in Asia for 2014, with the most recent settlement occurring in October at $1210/ton CFR.
