Market sources report that Japan’s Asahi Kasei permanently shut its No.2 styrene plant and naphtha-fed steam cracker in Mizushima. The cracker is able to produce 470,000 tons/year of ethylene and 300,000 tons/year of propylene while the No.2 styrene plant at the same site has a production capacity of 320,000 tons/year.

Meanwhile, Asahi Kasei is planning to halt production at its No.3 styrene plant in Mizushima on February 19 for a planned turnaround. The maintenance is expected to last around 45-50 days. The plant has a production capacity of 390,000 tons/year.
