Japan’s Asahi Kasei shuts naphtha unit due to technical glitch

According to media reports, Japan’s Asahi Kasei Mitsubishi Chemical Ethylene Corp, a joint venture between Asahi Kasei Chemicals and Mitsubishi Chemical Corp, has shut its naphtha cracker on July 27 due to a technical glitch.

It was not clear at the time of publication when the plant is expected resume production. The cracker has a production capacity of 567,000 tons/year.
