Japan's Asahi Kasei to shut its No.3 SM plant in Mizushima

Japan’s Asahi Kasei is planning to shut its No.3 styrene plant in Mizushima on February 19 for a planned turnaround, according to market sources. The maintenance is expected to last around 45-50 days. The plant has a production capacity of 390,000 tons/year.

Meanwhile, the company will permanently shut its 320,000 tons/year No.2 styrene plant and naphtha-fed steam cracker at the same site on February 15. The cracker is able to produce 470,000 tons/year of ethylene and 300,000 tons/year of propylene.
