Japan’s Shin-Etsu restarts PVC plant at Pernis

According to sources close to the company’s, Japan’s Shin-Etsu resumed production at its 450,000 tons/year plant in Pernis, the Netherlands. However, the sources also added that force majeure remains in place as Shell is also yet to lift force majeure on is ethylene output from its Moerdijk cracker. Shin-Etsu secures ethylene for its PVC production from Shell’s Moerdijk plant.

The producer declared force majeure on PVC k67 output from its Pernis plant on July 30 after a fire broke out at Shell’s Pernis refinery, which is the largest of Europe, on July 29.
