According to media reports, Japan’s Takata Corp. has doubled its vehicle recalls in the US because of faulty air bags. The company has recalled almost 34 million vehicles following a previous recall of 16.6 million vehicles, making it the largest automotive recall in the country. Since 2008, Takata has reportedly recalled more than 53 million vehicles globally due to the same problem.

Previously, Nissan, Honda and Toyota also announced that they would recall vehicles globally due to defective air bags made by Takata. Toyota and Nissan reportedly would recall 6.5 million vehicles globally while Honda’s latest recall would include 4.89 million vehicles world-wide.
