Japan’s naphtha imports down 6% on year in January

According to media reports, data from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed that the country’s naphtha imports for ethylene production declined 6% to reach around 1.34 million tons in January from 1.41 million tons in the same month of 2015. On a monthly basis, however, Japan’s naphtha imports edged up 0.2% compared with December’s 1.335 million tons.
On a value basis, meanwhile, the total import value for naphtha slumped about 34% on the year to around $586.9 million in January from $857.8 million in the same month of the previous year.
