Japan’s naphtha imports fall 2% on year in December

According to media reports, data from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed that the country’s naphtha imports for ethylene production declined 2% to reach 1.33 million tons in December from 1.36 million tons in the same month of 2014. On a monthly basis, however, Japan’s naphtha imports increased around 9% compared with November’s 1.22 million tons.

On a value basis, meanwhile, the total import value for naphtha slumped about 38% on the year to around $610.6 million from $987.7 million in the same month of the previous year.
