Japan’s naphtha imports fall 25% on year in April

According to media reports, data from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed that the country’s naphtha imports for petrochemical production declined by 25% while imports of naphtha for ethylene production fell to 1.01 million tons in April from 1.35 million tons in the same month of 2015. On a monthly basis, Japan’s naphtha imports also fell about 8% compared with March’s 1.099 million tons.

On a value basis, meanwhile, the total import value for naphtha slumped about 49% on the year to around $360.6 million in April from $538.7 million in the same month of the previous year.
