Japan’s naphtha imports fall 8% on year in July

According to media reports, data from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed that the country’s naphtha imports for petrochemical production fell 8% on the year to 1.02 million tons in July from 1.11 million tons in the same month of 2015. On a monthly basis, however, Japan’s naphtha imports rose about 11.7% compared with June’s 916,274 tons.
On a value basis, meanwhile, the total import value for naphtha slumped around 31.6% on the year to around $430.3 million in July from $629 million in the same month of the previous year.
