Japan’s naphtha imports fall 9% on year in February

According to media reports, data from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed that the country’s naphtha imports for ethylene production declined 9% to reach around 1.18 million tons in February from 1.3 million tons in the same month of 2015. On a monthly basis, Japan’s naphtha imports also fell 12% compared with January’s 1.339 million tons.

On a value basis, meanwhile, the total import value for naphtha slumped about 33% on the year to around $448.9 million in February from $672.3 million in the same month of the previous year.
