According to media reports, data from Kenya National Bureau Statistics (KNBS) showed that the country’s economy grew 5.6% in the third quarter of this year compared with a growth rate of 5.2% in the same period of 2014. The growth was driven by a strong performance in construction, agriculture, finance, insurance and wholesale sectors. Meanwhile, Kenya’s manufacturing activities were boosted by plunging crude oil prices and lower electricity costs in the third quarter.

The construction sector expanded 14.1% on the year in the July-September period compared to a growth of 8.8% in the same period of last year. Growth in the agricultural sector also accelerated to 7.1% in the same period compared to 6.8% growth a year earlier.
