In Kenya, players reported that they received August PP, PE prices from a major Saudi Arabian producer. According to players, new prices are rolled over for PP while they indicate rollovers to decreases of up to $20-30/ton from July levels for PE.
A converter reported receiving offers from the Saudi major. According to his reports, the producer’s offers are at $1230/ton for HDPE blow moulding, at $1050/ton for PP-homo raffia and injection and at $1080/ton for PP-homo film, all on a CFR Mombasa, Kenya, 90 days deferred payment basis. The producer issued a $30/ton decrease on their HDPE film offers to be currently pegged at $1210/ton with the same terms. The converter reported that supplies are available in the market, but market conditions are weak and demand for their end products remains quite weak.
According to another buyer, the Saudi major’s August LLDPE film offers are at $1210/ton, $20/ton lower than July levels while PP-homo film offers are steady at $1080/ton, all on a CFR Mombasa, Kenya, 90 days deferred payment basis. The buyer noted, “Supplies are not problematic and demand for our end product is slow. High exchange rates are hampering import purchases.”
