According to media reports, Kuwait Oil Company’s (KOC) crude output has been reduced to 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd) from 3 million bpd as a result of an emergency measure taken for keeping an oil worker strike in check.
However, oil ministry spokesman Sheikh Talal al-Khaled stated that Kuwait’s oil exports have not been affected by the strike, which was launched by oil workers on Sunday against a proposal to cut wages and benefits for all public-sector employees by the government.
State-owned refiner Kuwait Petroleum Corp.’s output fell from 930,000 barrels per day to 520,000 bpd.
