LATEST NEWS: Italy’s Nov polymer imports down marginally on year
The top polymer exporters to Italy were Germany with 68,181 tons, followed by France (58,229 tons), Belgium (63,039 tons), Spain (36,162 tons) and the Netherlands (24,961 tons) in November.
In November, cumulative homo-PP imports were down by 8.5% to 85,181 tons compared to October. They also declined by 7.5% from the same month of 2017. Germany remained as the top homo-PP exporter in November with 17,506 tons, followed by Saudi Arabia (10,942 tons), Spain (10,484 tons), France (8,588 tons) and Belgium (7,545 tons).
For PP copolymer, Italy’s November imports were down by about 7% on the month and 5.3% on the year to 48,176 tons. Belgium was the top exporter of Italy for another month with 10,109 tons followed by Germany (9,088 tons).
Imports for LLDPE were down by 12% on the month and by 3.7% on year to 24,729 tons in November. Belgium remained as the top supplier of Italy with 7,342 tons, followed by France (4,353 tons). In the meantime, Italy’s November mLLDPE imports were also down by 4.5% on the month but surged by around 61% from the same month of 2017 at 26,683 tons. Spain remained as Italy’s top supplier for another month with 6,038 tons.
Imports for LDPE were down by 4.4% on a monthly basis and by 12.3% on a yearly basis to 46,455 tons. Italy’s top supplier was France with 7,983 tons, followed by Belgium (7,887 tons) and the Netherlands (6,396 tons).
November HDPE imports declined by 5% to 62,252 tons from October while they rose by 11.4% from a year earlier. Germany was the top exporter of Italy with 13,353 tons, followed by Belgium (7,710 tons) and Saudi Arabia (5,514 tons).
Italy’s November PVC imports rose by 3% from a month earlier to around 56,814 tons, while they came down by almost 15% on a yearly basis. Top suppliers of Italy were France, Germany and the Netherlands with respective volumes of 19,124 tons, 9,270 tons and 4,951 tons.
Regarding styrenics, Italy imported 18,185 tons of PS in total, down by 5% on the month. However, the figure was up by 3% on the year. Belgium remained the top exporter with 5,719 tons.
ABS imports in November were up by 2.4% at 10,705 tons on the month while they declined by 11% on year-on-year. South Korea remained the top supplier with 2,550 tons.
In November, Italy’s EPS imports were down by 6.5% to 9,785 tons month over month. The figure also fell by 13.7% year-on-year. Germany remained on the top of Italy’s top supplier list with 2,509 tons.
Meanwhile, Italy’s November imports for PET bottle fell by 17% month over month while they were up by 20% on a yearly basis to 36,155 tons. South Korea was the top exporter of Italy for another month with 6,098 tons.
