Players in Malaysia report that they have received new local PP and PE prices for February with decreases from January.

A distributor reported that a local producer has adjusted their domestic PP and PE prices for February downward by MYR480/ton ($133/ton) for homo-PP raffia and injection, by MYR400/ton ($110/ton) for homo-PP film, by MYR260-380/ton ($72-105/ton) for HDPE film, by MYR370/ton ($103/ton) for LDPE film and by MYR210/ton ($58/ton) for LLDPE film when compared to the most recently reported offer levels from the same source, bringing their new prices to MYR3900/ton ($1080/ton) for homo-PP raffia and injection, to MYR4130/ton ($1114/ton) for homo-PP film, to MYR4150ton ($1149/ton) for LDPE film, to MYR4150-4270/ton ($1149-1182/ton) for HDPE film and to MYR4480/ton ($1241/ton) for LLDPE film, all on an FD, 30 days deferred payment basis. He said, “We think that the producer is not feeling any sales pressure for LLDPE nowadays.”

Two converters in Malaysia also confirmed receiving new local PP and PE prices with reductions from the same producer. One buyer said, “Our end product customers are not placing many orders nowadays as they are waiting to see further decreases following local producers’ announcements. Hence, our sales are not that strong at the moment.”
