According to industry sources, LyondellBasell is planning to permanently shut one of its PP facilities in Brindisi, Italy due to challenging market conditions. This news was not confirmed directly by the company at the time of publication.
LyondellBasell runs two PP units with 235,000 tons/year and 260,000 tons/year capacity at its Brindisi site. According to sources, the company will likely close the latter one that mainly produces PPH grades using the company’s Spheripol technology.
The company did not disclose an official date for closure but reportedly stated that they are at the stage of union consultation.
