Maintenance updates on styrene plants in Japan and S Korea

According to the sources close to the companies, some producers in Japan and South Korea are planning to shut their styrene plants in H1 of 2017 due to maintenance.

Japan’s Nippon Steel will shut its 230,000 tons/year plant in a period between February and March for a month.

Japan’s Asahi Kasei will also shut its 390,000 tons/year plant between May and June for two months.
Additionally, South Korea’s Samsung – Total will shut its 400,000 tons/year plant between April and May for 20 days.

South Korea’s YNNC will also shut its 285,000 tons/year plant in May for a month.
