Malaysia’s Petronas awards EPPC contract for RAPID project

According to media reports, Malaysia’s Petronas has awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract to Italy’s Maire Tecnimont and China’s Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corp for the proposed PP plant its Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Johor, Malaysia. The contract value was reported at MYR2 billion ($482 million).

The contract is effective as of November 24 and the contractors are expected to complete their requirements by April 2019.

The RAPID project will have a production capacity of 900,000 tons year of PP, 350,000 tons/year of metallocene LLDPE and 300,000 tons/year of PE 100, according to market players.
