According to data from Malaysia’s Department of Statistics, the country’s consumer inflation rate rose at a faster than expected pace in November due to higher prices for some goods and services, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.

The consumer price index increased 2.6% in November compared with the same month of 2014 following an increase of 2.5% in October. Economists’ estimates had called for an inflation rate of 2.3% in a survey by Reuters.

On a monthly basis, meanwhile, Malaysia’s inflation rate climbed 0.6% in November.
