According to data released by Markit Economics, Turkish manufacturing activities continued to increase in April although the increase lost some momentum from the previous month. The PMI stood at a reading of 51.7 in April after posting a reading of 52.3 in the previous month. Any reading above 50 indicates expansion while any reading below 50 represents contraction.
The increase was attributed to a further rise in new orders, although it was slower than in March. New export business also increased for the fourth month in a row. New business was up at the second fastest pace in three years although it was slower than in March while manufacturing employment also rose for the eighth time in nine months. The data also showed a rise in goods producers’ purchasing activity in April.
