According to market sources, May propylene contracts have started to settle in the US. The new contracts are reportedly settling with a decrease of 1 cent/lb ($22/ton) from April at 42 cents/lb ($926/ton) FD USG for polymer-grade propylene and at 40.5 cents/lb ($893/ton) for chemical grade.

The decrease was in line with market expectations and if the new contract finds widespread acceptance, it will represent the lowest level seen since July 2009.

Meanwhile, spot propylene prices in the US are up 2.5 cents/lb ($55ton) week over week to be currently reported at 31.5 cents/lb ($694/ton) FD USG.
