Mexico imposes definitive antidumping duties on Chinese PET
The investigation, requested by Alpek Polyester México and Indorama Ventures Polymers México in August 2023, covered trade data from July 2022 to June 2023 and assessed injury from July 2020 onward. Authorities found that Chinese exporters were selling PET resin at unfairly low prices, undercutting Mexican producers and distorting the domestic market.
As a result, Mexico has imposed duties ranging from $0.04 to $0.26 per kilogram depending on the exporter, with exceptions for Chongqing Wankai and Wankai New, which were found not to engage in dumping. These duties, effective May 30, 2025, aim to restore fair competition by discouraging undervalued imports and supporting local production.
