Mexico outpaces France, US; becomes top PVC exporter to Turkey in June
Mexico dethroned France and became the top PVC supplier of Turkey’s imports with 9,181 tons in June, followed by France (8,695 tons) and South Korea (6,343 tons).
Turkey’s imports of Mexican PVC also rose by 40% from the same month of 2016.
“Mexican PVC with ATR offered relatively competitive prices compared to duty-free European origins during the last couple of months,” some Turkish players commented on rising import PVC amounts from the country.
PVC imports from the US totaled to 3,766 tons in June, plunging by nearly 150% compared to the previous month, meanwhile. The decrease was sharper by 312% on a year on year basis, the data revealed. This was the lowest import volume recorded in June since 2007.
Turkey’s overall PVC imports decreased by 8% from a month earlier to 47,535 tons in June, in the meantime. On a yearly basis, they posted a larger drop of about 27%.
