Mexico’s Braskem-Idesa to start up 3rd PE line at Etileno XXI

According to market sources, Braskem-Idesa, a joint venture between Brazil’s Braskem (75%) and Mexico’s Grupo Idesa (25%) is planning to start up its third PE line at its Etileno XXI petrochemical complex. The company is in the process of starting up its LDPE plant by May 15.

Output from the complex will be primarily used for meeting the growing needs of Mexico’s PE market while the remainder is slated to be exported to the US and South America. The project is located in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz state and will have 1 million tons/year of PE capacity.
