Motiva mulls over new steam cracker and aromatics complex in Texas
The potential project is expected to be located entirely within the company’s Port Arthur Refinery Complex in Jefferson County, Texas, while the planned capacity of the cracker was not disclosed.
The project, which is worth around $4.67 million, is still in an evaluation stage and only very preliminary development activities have begun, the company stated.
Upon timely granting of all required permits, the construction is proposed to commence in the first quarter of 2020 and it is estimated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
In another filing, Motiva announced a project that includes a new world-scale aromatics complex that would produce benzene and PX. The proposed project is also expected to be located at the company’s Port Arthur Refinery Complex.
The planned capacity of the complex was not revealed in the document.
The construction of the $1.94 million project is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2020 with completion estimated in the fourth quarter of 2022.
