Neste Jacobs, Coolbrook develop new cracking technology
The new technology will improve cracking yields of olefins by three times and provide financial benefits. It will also save non-renewable sources, decrease side-products from ethylene cracking and make ethylene production easier.
As part of the project, a pilot reactor based on RDR technology will be built and tested for two years, after which the new technology will be launched commercially in 2019.
The new technology is being developed in collaboration with University of Oxford’s Osney Thermo Fluids laboratory, University of Cambridge’s Whittle laboratory, a major petrochemical producer Dow Chemical and equipment manufacturers including MANTurbo.
