Nestlé plans to reach recycled plastics goal by 2021
The leading beverage company also announced plans to continue expanding its use of recycled materials in the coming years and set a further goal to reach 50% recycled plastic by 2025.
NWNA stated that the company’s use of food-grade recycled plastic, or rPET, is planned to nearly quadruple in less than three years. In order to achieve this goal, NWNA will strengthen its relationship with key supplier, Plastrec , a Canada-based company that produces food-grade recycled PET resin from post-consumer containers.
The company’s announcement came on the heels of the agreement signed by Nestlé Waters North America and CarbonLITE, a recycled PET (rPET) supplier. The agreement included the construction of a third recycling facility in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, the US.
