According to media reports, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Barkindo was quoted as saying that a possible deal to stabilize the oil market between OPEC and non-OPEC member countries may last for a year, RIA news agency reported.

Major oil producers will attend a meeting in Algeria this month where producers hope to meet to discuss the stability of the oil markets.

Several OPEC members have called for an output freeze to deal with the fall in prices that occurred over the last two years due to a flood in oil supplies.
