According to market sources, Oman’s state-owned Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) is expected to make a final investment decision on its planned Liwa Plastics Complex by the end of this year. Once the complex is launched, the Liwa Plastics Complex will consist of a natural gas liquids extraction plant, a steam cracker and petrochemical units while the complex will use LPG and dry gas from Orpic’s nearby refinery as feedstock.

The Liwa Plastics Complex is slated to have production capacities of 440,000 tons/year of HDPE, 440,000 tons/year of LLDPE and 400,000 tons/year of PP. The complex will also house an 800,000 tons/year steam cracker.
