PE prices post larger increases than PP for March in UAE

Middle Eastern producers unveiled March import PP and PE prices to the United Arab Emirates with increases for the second consecutive month. PE prices were up by $10-40/ton while PP prices posted a smaller increase of $10/ton when compared to February at $1120-1170/ton for LDPE, $990-1030/ton for LLDPE, $990-1010/ton for HDPE film, $1020-1100/ton for HDPE b/m, $1020-1050/ton for HDPE inj., $1050-1080/ton for PPBC, $1000-1130/ton for PPH raffia and inj., $1040-1180/ton for PPH film and fibre., all on CIF Dubai, 90 days basis.

In the local market, PP prices from the domestic producer surfaced with $10/ton increases when compared to February levels at $910-940/ton for PPH raffia and inj., and $970-980/ton for PPBC, on a FD Dubai, cash basis. This price hike came after the initial rollover requests revealed last month, followed by $30/ton discounts.

“The subdued demand fails to bolster the upward trajectory of prices. With Ramadan looming on the horizon, there’s a possibility of further slowdown in market activity,” opined a trader.
