According to media reports, Turkey-based PVC pipe and profile manufacturer PIMAS, the majority stake in which is owned by Belgium’s Deceuninck NV, has announced in a statement that its Gebze production plant, the company’s only plant in Turkey, will be permanently shut as of March 31. Lower profitability was cited as the main reason behind the company’s decision to close the plant.
PIMAS was founded in 1963 and Pimapen, the company’s most prominent brand, has a retail network consisting of more than 1,400 distributors.
