February PVC deals are being concluded with decreases of up to €30/ton in West Europe and players are now commenting on the amount of projected gains for March PVC prices based on bullish expectations for the upcoming ethylene contracts. Overall PVC prices are stable week over week at €575-720/ton for k67 and at €615-725/ton for specialty grades FD, 60/90 days.

A West European PVC producer settled their February PVC contracts with decreases of €20-30/ton. A producer source commented, “Demand has been good for both S-PVC and E-PVC. The outlook is firm for March as we expect ethylene contracts to settle significantly higher.”

A distributor in Germany concluded some February PVC deals down €20-30/ton from last month and reported seeing good demand in the second half of the month due to firmer expectations for March. The seller projects increases of €100/ton for the ethylene contracts and €40-50/ton for PVC prices for the upcoming month.

A converter, who settled his February PVC contracts with decreases of €25-30/ton, reported, “We bought some extra volumes this month, thinking that prices will gain ground in March. We expect ethylene contracts to settle up €80/ton from February and PVC prices to rise by around €40-50/ton.” A packaging producer also said that he is negotiating to obtain discounts of €25-30/ton on his February PVC contracts and added that he anticipates increases between €50-100/ton for the ethylene contracts.
