A source from Petkim confirmed that they shut their cracker on Tuesday and they declared force majeure on ethylene, propylene and butadiene. A technical problem caused the shutdown, the source said, although it is expected to be overcome in the next few days. The source also clarified that there is no force majeure declared on ACN.

This shutdown at the ethylene cracker is not expected to have a major impact on the downstream production, according to the source. “We continue our deliveries for our derivatives smoothly despite the upstream outage. We are planning to fix it soon anyways,” he added.

The producer has a 350,000 tons/year LDPE plant, 96,000 tons/year HDPE plant, 144,000 tons/year PP plant and 150,000 tons/year PVC plant.
