According to media reports, rockets launched by the Iranian army during the Great Prophet 18 war games malfunctioned and crushed a petrochemical plant in Chabahar, southeast Iran, causing fear and panic throughout the area.

According to eyewitnesses, more than five rockets were fired, and two of them exploded mid-air whereas the rest hit the petrochemical complex. No casualties were reported at the time of writing.

The Chabahar region mainly houses methanol units. Moreover, there is a new petchem project slated for 2027 by Iranian Bakhtar Group that includes new olefin and polyolefin capacities.
