Petrochemical workers in South Africa go on strike

Fifteen thousand workers from petrochemical and pharmaceutical companies including Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing, Wood and Allied Workers Union (Ceppwawu) have commenced a lawful strike as of today. Refinery workers, fuel truck drivers and depot workers are expected to participate in the strike.

Businesses related to Sasol; Sasol Synfuels, Natref and Sasol Energy are awaited to be influenced from the strike. An authority from Sasol stated that they have plans to minimize the impacts of the strike for customers, workers, and contractors and added that production is not affected from this process and operations are running normally.
