Philippine trader: local producer lifts PP, PE prices

A trader in the Philippines reported that a local producer has raised their domestic PP and PE prices by PHP2200/ton ($49/ton) compared to last week. “The producer might have felt that their offers stand below the current levels in the import market and they might have decided to increase their prices as a means of improving their margins. However, we were expecting them to lower their prices as naphtha costs are down compared to the beginning of the month,” the trader commented.

The producer currently offers LLDPE film, HDPE film and homo-PP film at PHP68000/ton ($1357/ton without VAT) and homo-PP raffia and injection at PHP67000/ton ($1337/ton without VAT), all on an FD Philippines, cash including VAT basis.

The trader added, “Local demand is stable while supplies are sufficient nowadays. However, we may see some increases in the import market over the near term in the face of limited supplies.”
