Polymer deliveries from Iran to Turkey resume via railroad
Players expect HDPE blow moulding supplies to find a relief as they have been tight due to a virus-led border closure with Iran and active demand for packaging applications amid COVID-19 restrictions.
A converter affirmed, “We were told that PE materials from Iran have been started to be sent with railcars. They are subject to a disinfection process which takes around a day before moving on.”
A trader who offers Iranian cargos similarly said, “We have HDPE film on its way coming from Iran via railroad for the time being. Our b/m cargos are readying to be shipped next week. Delivery takes 7 to 10 days, approximately, while transportation costs have increased when compared to before.” He further reported that customs bureaus have also been in the process of reopening. Some players expect to receive fresh LLDPE offers from their Iranian suppliers this weekend, meanwhile.
