According to market sources, South Korea’s Hanwha Total Petrochemical is in the process of switching to using LPG as feedstock at its steam cracker as of late June due to the cost-advantages of LPG. The company’s cracker can produce 1 million tons/year of ethylene, 600,000 tons/year of propylene and 114,000 tons/year of butadiene.

Sources stated that the company has not fully switched using LPG yet as some furnaces of the cracker are still being fed with naphtha.
