S. Korea’s Hanwha declares FM on PVC output from Ulsan

According to market sources, South Korea’s Hanwha Chemical declared a force majeure on PVC output from its Ulsan facility on July 7 following an explosion which occurred during welding work to expand a waste water disposal facility at its No. 2 plant on July 3. The explosion affected the company’s 400,000 tons/year PVC plant at the site.

The company’s Ulsan complex houses a 240,000 tons/year caustic soda plant, a 230,000 tons/year EDC plant, two VCM plants with a combined capacity of 273,000 tons/year and a 400,000 tons/year PVC plant.
