According to market sources, South Korea’s Samsung Total Petrochemical is planning to shut its No.1 styrene plant at Daesan by the end of this week for a turnaround. The plant has a production capacity of 280,000 tons/year and is expected to be offline for around 45 days.

Sources also stated that the capacity of the plant will be increased to 400,000 tons/year during the turnaround.

Meanwhile, the company reportedly may shut its 650,000 tons/year No.2 styrene plant at the same site next week for around 30 to 45 days.
