An agent of a major Saudi Arabian producer reported that their supplier announced its September PP and PE prices to China with visible increases from August.
According to him, the producer lifted its offers by $60/ton for HDPE film and by $40/ton for LDPE and LLDPE film. As for PP, there was no comparison as the trader did not receive PP raffia offers from the producer for August.
The Saudi major’s September prices currently stand at $1240/ton for LDPE film, at $1180/ton for LLDPE and HDPE film and at $1130/ton for homo-PP raffia, all on CIF China, cash basis.
The agent commented, “Demand is mostly coming from traders while converters are not so willing to replenish their stocks due to the rapid increases. Traders are aggressively building stocks nowadays. We believe that PP and PE prices will maintain their firm path in the near term as the high season for manufacturing is approaching.”
