According to media reports, the flood in China caused by a seasonal heavy rainfall hit the world’s largest power plants in the country. Due to the flood, the capacities of the two power plants in China, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, were reduced by two-thirds, the reports revealed.

This natural disaster also raised concerns over electricity supplies from the country’s second biggest electricity source and caused freight rates and export prices of coal, from which the country generates power, to increase.

The economic loss in the country caused by the incident is estimated nearly as $4 billion.
