Sharq to shut MEG plant in Saudi Arabia by August

According to market sources, Saudi Sharq Eastern Petrochemical Company intends to shut its 450,000 tons/year No.2 monoethlyne glycol plant located in Al-Jubail for maintenance by early August. A source close to company stated that the maintenance will last around 2 weeks.

Three other MEG units of the company are currently operating at almost full rates with No.1 line’s 450,000 tons/year, No. 3 line’s 500,000 tons/year and No. 4 line’s 700,000 tons/year capacities.
Sharq Eastern Petrochemicals is a joint venture between SABIC and a consortium of Japanese companies led by Mitsubishi Corp.
